Arts Eklektos
The online home of R Coots’ art and writing! Well, obviously. According to my googling, ‘eklektos’ is a Greek word seen in the Bible, referring to something that’s been ‘picked out’ or ‘chosen’. I have many hobbies. Many creative endeavors. Art, writing, knitting, spinning, and so on. But when it comes to what I really want to do, what I want to share with people the most, my writing and my art top the list. So here is the home for those things. My books and short stories, and the art that goes with them.
R Coots
I started out with art. Taught from a young age, I settled into drawing as my default setting when I grabbed a fresh sheet of paper. Working at the local library book sale during high school, I was paid in books. There I found a few books on writing, and they opened up the idea of actually getting paid for the stories that lived in my head. But the idea of all the steps I’d have to climb just to get someone to LOOK at what I wrote (query letters folks. Nightmarish things) shelved the idea of writing professionally. I was majoring in Fine Arts about the time the Kindle first hit the market. Viola! No need for query letters! The rest, as they say, is history.
